Jaisa Sulit

MScOT, BPHE, BEd

ON, CANADA
A neuro-rehab occupational therapist turned patient after a motorcycle accident left her paralyzed. Now a mindfulness facilitator helping others to move mindfully & meaningfully through daily life.

Jaisa Sulit BPHE, BEd, MScOT is a neuro-rehab occupational therapist & UofT lecturer with a passion for our human potential to learn, heal & grow. In 2010, however, Jaisa sustained a spinal cord injury from a motorcycle accident. As a therapist turned patient, Jaisa participated in a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program that not only enriched her recovery, but also helped her learn to cope with the stress, pain, & anxiety that comes with living with a disability. With a desire to share the benefits of mindfulness with others, Jaisa went on to complete her certification in the Professional Training in MBSR in Mind-Body Medicine, and both the Practicum and Teacher Development Intensive in MBSR at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Combining her mindfulness experience with her certifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Contemplative Care, Reiki & Neurodevelopmental Treatment, Jaisa now teaches the MBSR program at Bridgepoint Health & offers mindfulness education via workshops & one on one training at the Proactive Pelvic Health Centre & Wallis For Wellness.

Since acquiring a spinal cord injury, Jaisa has become a requested speaker at hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area. She was the keynote speaker for the 2012 Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists Annual Conference and was also a keynote at the 2012 Spirituality and Wellness Expo in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico. In 2014, Jaisa facilitated a Mindfulness workshop for healthcare professionals at the Toronto Acquired Brain Injury Network Annual Conference and Toronto Rehab Rumsey Staff Education Day.

Jaisa strongly believes in the role of meaningful activities & creative self-expression in health, recovery & growth (thus, the birth of this blog) She enjoys writing, performing spoken word, dance, improv, stand up & has become an international keynote speaker & published poet.

Jaisa is now currently living in Vancouver where she is exploring the effects of bringing her rehabilitation into the natural environment. You will likely find her on the beach barefoot doing yoga, qigong or her physio exercises!
