Beat the Inner Bully: How to be More Confident and Have More Sway
One of the biggest obstacles that prevents women from taking a seat at the table is self-confidence. In order to close the gender gap in organizations, we need more women in leadership. However, a lack of confidence can hold women back from everything from voicing an opinion in the boardroom to applying for a promotion. Addressing how to increase self-confidence is critical if women want to be impactful and effective leaders.
Learning how to overcome these...
Navigating Gender Bias in the Workplace
Recent neuroscience research shows that part of the reason why we still see a gender gap in leadership is due to the unconscious wiring of the brain. The subsequent subtle behavior that stems from unconscious bias can potentially exclude a certain group of people while giving a slight advantage to others. This results is an unlevel playing field that creates work environments where one group is more dominant than the other.
As organizations begin to understand the importance of...

I invited Monique to speak at an event for Women in Construction Operations (WiOPS) to a group of women in the construction industry a few weeks ago. She was amazing! Her techniques and philosophy as captured in her amazing book, Leading Gracefully, applies to women in all lines of work and careers but I found her catching the ear of the women in the audience who are mid-career level wanting to get ahead or a promotion, but are lacking the self-confidence and leadership skills necessary to get there. Almost everyone in the audience left with a copy of her book. I find her perspective refreshing because it isn't geared towards a professional woman having to change her personality or character in order to get ahead in any male dominated profession. In fact, it emphasizes how the grace, collaboration and sensitivity of a woman can bring such high value to any organization's leadership group. She's great and I hope she can reach a vaster audience with her amazing message.

Verified @usgbc-la.orgMonique led a professional development series for the women members of USGBC-LA, including the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator, and the LA Department of Water & Power. She led this diverse group through exercises to inspire us to Lead Gracefully. Most of the group work in male-dominated or male-only teams and had a challenging time with concepts like vulnerability and care. I knew the workshops were effective when we got feedback from the members that they were practicing those traits and others in the Feminine Leadership model and they were feeling more authentic, centered, and respected in their groups at work. I enjoyed all of our work together with Monique. She brought out the best in our group and her leadership has helped many women in sustainability, construction, and design. She gives great real-life examples and connects to her audience deeply.

Verified @ci.southlake.tx.usMonique was invited to speak on Leading Gracefully at the annual Texas Library Association Conference at the Henry B. Gonzalez Conference Center in San Antonio, Texas on April 20, 2017. The Leading Gracefully program, and her book on the topic, provided an insightful and knowledgeable approach to authentic leadership for women. The audience was engaged, responsive and enthusiastic to hear about the feminine leadership model, which she developed. In a field where women are in the majority, many librarians are reaching out for a modern leadership model which allows them to utilize their natural strengths. Monique's seminar revealed that the skills women bring to leadership are in demand and she provided a balanced and complimentary approach to developing a whole-self leadership style. She is a warm, funny and insightful speaker and her program is highly recommended to anyone who wants to learn to be a better leader.
