Life is not fair! I'm living proof. On the night of November 19th, 2010 while on patrol I was ambushed from behind, shot nine times and left for dead. I had the choice to give up! The shooter was standing over me firing bullet after bullet. What happened next defies the odds. I got up! How? Why? Was it attitude, family influence, true grit, will to live or training?
Give me the opportunity to share the "how" and "why" I got up and never gave up. I'll share practical tools and techniques that extended my existence on this green earth. I believe your experience can lift your organization's successful transformations.
Surviving, living, and thriving in the workplace begins before work ever starts. There is a creative balance to the start of each day. It sustained me before and through this horrific ordeal. It continues to do so which has been a refining process. Our days are fraught with choice and perspective. I'll share what it takes to achieve breakthrough performance.
I grew up poor with a terminally ill mother stricken with Lupus and kidney failure. Heart failure would eventually end her mortality. What is most shocking is the positive attitude she showed through the 24 years I knew her. She showed me that pain in life is inevitable but that the suffering is optional. Give me the chance to inspire your work team. My story is remarkably unbelievable but it came about by the many small daily choices that shape who we are and what we can become.

It was really nice to hear such an inspirational story. being in a treatment center I hear a lot of tragic stories and trauma from victims like myself. People are not usually so able to forgive and find the perks in life afterwards. You're upbeat and seem to be happy. I admire your dedication to your family. One of my favorite parts (other than the lion dog example) was the quote that ended in"you don't have to taste good." To me it meant no matter what ends up happening ther is always a little piece of hope you can hold onto. Sometimes that little piece of hope saves your life. I've had the privilege of working with and getting to know this man! He has affected me in such a positive way that I would dare say he has changed my life!
