How To Live Life on the Edge! A Personal Narrative...

...in a land across the water, a daughter was born to parents who were deeply troubled human beings. The girl grew up trapped by poverty, violence, drug and alcohol addictions, trapped by unwanted pregnancies, and trapped by the belief that she would never amount to anything.

The girl attended the School of Hard Knocks and ran away from home at age 16, dumpster diving into the world of drug and alcohol abuse, mindless and reckless actions that left two children without their mother, and came perilously close to destroying her life. Until one day she awoke and asked, just like the Peggy Lee song, "Is that all there is?"

With the help of some wise and wonderful guides and mentors, she began to understand that things could be different. She had no idea what that looked like, but she would learn. It became the mantra for her life. Learn, Grow and Achieve.

She Learned how to overcome self-destructive behavior, alcoholism, drug abuse, and fear-based thinking that threatened to obliterate her life, and caused much suffering to the people she loved the most.

She Grew into a strong, capable and confident woman who developed her vision, passion and purpose, and found a powerful self who influences the lives of those she meets.

She's written five books, trained as a professional singer, and performed in synagogues in Los Angeles, Paris and Amsterdam during the High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Picking up on her love of music, she recorded an album of original songs that entertained hundreds of people.

After suffering great physical and emotional abuse in her childhood, she found true strength and confidence in martial arts, and earned a black belt in karate on her 49th birthday, and a red belt in Tae Kwon Do, unafraid to meet the competition. What she learned through these years could fill a book, and will one day.

Raised by plain people, and eating plain meals, she learned to cook with some of the world's masters, ate in some very fancy places, and has cooked more great meals than she can possibly remember. She also wrote a soup cookbook that honors her Scottish roots.

Along the way, she fought the demons of pain and unhappiness that led to powerful challenges as a mother, and overcame them while raising four extraordinary people, traveling around the globe and living in amazing places. She is thankful that they all survived and thrived.

Throughout all this, she's Achieved far more than she ever thought possible growing up in Leith, Scotland. AND has managed to live with the same man for the last thirty-three years, and is still going strong.

They both own their personal piece of paradise in Bali where she holds retreats for people who are seeking to learn, grow and achieve, so they can create greater influence in the world around them.

Over the years, the girl realized that she had learned a lot about life, creativity, fear, insecurity, limited beliefs, and lack of confidence, and she learned that anything was possible if she believed it enough. She learned she could change her life, and did. She no longer had to live in someone else's epic novel, but she could be the author of her own life. To this end, she has earned her PhD in Life Skills learning how to get out of her own way, and hopes she can teach you how to do it too.

She is grateful for an interesting life that has given her more gifts than she could possibly have imagined.
