About Me ...Despite being born with a physical challenge, I overcame adversity to play defensive end for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues. My playing career quickly turned into a college coaching career that took me across North America and being named the defensive line coach at the inaugural NAIA All-Star Game.
As a college administrator with 15 years of experience in student affairs administration I have worked in multiple areas in student services, have trained thousands of college leaders, numerous departments, and have created departments from the ground up. I have spoken at numerous national and regional higher education leadership conferences as well.As a doctoral candidate in the Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education Program (HALE) at Michigan State University my research focuses on work-life balance, flexstlyes, and how companies and employees can manage boundaries better in order to improve job satisfaction, intent-to-stay, and employee retention. My keynote Hit Hard has been delivered to thousands of people across Canada and the United States. I use my life in football as a way of teaching others to build resilience and persist to their goals. I also teach others to tell their story and spread their message. In 2013 I was a semi-finalist in the World Championship of Public Speaking, being among the final 89 out of over 25,000 contestants.
Born missing fingers and with shortened forearms, many thought a career in athletics was out of the question. At one point, I agreed with those people; especially when I was cut from my high school football team. Six years later I found myself stepping onto Varisty Field at the University of Toronto as a member of the football team. What began was a journey into college football as a player and coach that taught me important lessons about life, leadership, and achieving your goals.
