Karen Furneaux is an Olympian, World Champion and mental illness survivor. Advocating for mental health, she speaks to organizations and youth to reconnect to the gold within!
Karen is one of the top 15 athletes of all time in Nova Scotia sport history. She is a 3x Olympian and a 2x world champion in sprint kayaking. Karen has received the Volunteer of the Year award in 2018 from the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame, the 2013 Progress Women of Excellence Award for Health and Wellness as well as the Charles Yatzman Award for Sports Person of the Americas. Karen was an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel serving the 3MP division of the Canadian Armed Forces, 2020-2023.
Karen is the 2026 Body Movin' ambassador for the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
Karen holds a Masters of Science Degree from Dalhousie University in Kinesiology.
Karen is a mental health advocate, author and coach. Karen's personal mission is to inspire people to reconnect to their own gold within.
