Ria Story

Leadership Catalyst

GA, US
Engage, educate and empower your audience with leadership and resilience lessons taught by a survivor who learned to thrive.

Like many, Ria faced adversity in life. Raised on an isolated farm in Alabama, she was sexually abused by her father from age 12 - 19. She was forced to play the role of a wife and even shared with other men due to her father's perversions. Desperate to escape, she left home at 19 without a job, a car, or even a high school diploma.

Unlike many, Ria learned to be resilient, and not just survive, but thrive. She went on to find success in the corporate world of healthcare, eventually resigning from a career to pursue a calling. Today, she shares her story to inspire others

Ria's inspirational victim-to-victor story is one of overcoming adversity, transforming her life, and of the leadership lessons that she successfully applied in the process, which she believes anyone can use to transform their own life.

Ria believes we can take what life hands us and be bitter about it. Or, we can choose to be better because of it.

Ria earned her GED and worked two jobs and went to school at night while balancing her role as a wife and step-mom in order to graduate with her MBA. Ria worked in the healthcare industry for over ten years, most recently as the Director of Regulatory Affairs at a large community hospital, before resigning from corporate life to pursue her passion for motivational speaking, success coaching and leadership development.

A leadership catalyst, Ria is a passionate motivational speaker, inspiring and empowering with leadership lessons from her own life on principles such as attitude, courage and tenacity. A published author, Ria shares her thoughts on resilience in her book, Beyond Bound andBroken.

Ria is also a fierce health and wellness advocate. She is a certified fitness instructor, teaches group fitness classes several times a week, runs marathons and is an avid mountain biker – winning the 2011 and 2012 State Mountain Biking Championships in both Alabama and Georgia.
