Eleven years ago Sharon Pearson was at a crossroads. After years of unsuccessfully attempting to have her crime novels published, and feeling frustrated by ill health, she knew she had to make some changes. A friend suggested life coaching; she already had the ability to listen to and help her friends. She loved personal development. It was a way forward where she could actually make a difference. Within 12 short months of starting her training to become a coach, Sharon had a full client list, had moved into dedicated coaching premises and was working with a wide range of clients from around the world. Training and public speaking gigs meant she was more in demand, and many coaches came to her seeking to know the 'secret' of her success. Sharon began to run dedicated training events for coaches looking to coach at a deeper level, and who wanted the "transformational coaching" methodology Sharon had developed through her own practice.
Within a short time, Sharon Pearson and Associates became The Coaching Institute (TCI), delivering coaching training for people throughout Australia and Asia.

The focus was on the transformational model she had developed as a coach, which meant students were trained in how to go beyond the surface level problems, and to provide coaching which restored the potential of the client so they could move forward. The program rapidly became the first Diploma of Life Coaching ever recognised under the government framework available at the time, VRQA. The first "intake" of students was nine people. Since then, TCI has gone on to train over 5,000 students, had students come from Russia, the USA, Denmark and Thailand, and has developed the training into its own unique and in-demand methodology, Meta DynamicsTM.

The Journey from management to true leadership. In 2013, due to student demand, Sharon developed the International Coach Guild (ICG) with the collaboration of students and coaches, aimed to raise the standards of coaching throughout the world. With its "15 Core Competencies" and its focus on excellence in coaching it received over 200 applications for Associate Membership in its first two weeks of launching. The ICG is positioned as the preferred choice for new coaching students, who want to become Credentialed Coaches. TCI style trainings are not typical class rooms.
