These concepts can be applied to both an individual's personal and professional life. This course will provide the attendees with an understanding of why change is difficult; reflecting on Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle regarding the introduction of change; understanding the dynamics of change within your organization; how to implement a strategic change using a process approach to introduce the change, and; how to combat the natural resistance to change from those who must implement the change. A focus on the issues public service and military people will face in a career transition as they prepare to navigate private market career opportunities. Discussed are transitional issues related to retirement drivers, financial considerations, professional reinvention, emotional factors and the requisite transferable knowledge, skills and abilities required to venture into private industry.
Using DISC Personality Diagnostics to More Effectively Communicate
Participants will be exposed to the DISC personality diagnostic instrument in an effort to understand their communication and behavior patterns. Further, each personality type will be examined to assist each participant in understanding how to interact and communicate with individuals of different personalities. At the conclusion, each participant should have a basic understanding of how and why interactions with others are affected by personality.
Ethical Leadership
This course provides participants with a pragmatic understanding, reflection and discussion of ethical issues and dilemmas in the workplace. The use of video clips and Power Point slides are used to reinforce the conceptual framework of the course.
