The peer-to-peer platform uses social media and technology to connect people in need with people willing to help. Wishes range from basic needs to costly medication. Heroes can help by donating money, offering a service or purchasing an item. Since its launch in 2007, more than 100,000 wishes have been granted.
Mr. Girgenti has received many accolades in his professional career, including over 60 awards in marketing and advertising. He is a NJBIZ Forty Under 40 recipient. He was awarded the "Hero of the Year Award" by the National Association of Women Business Owners. In 2009, he was recognized by ABC World News with Charles Gibson as the "Person of the Week". Dave had the pleasure to return to his alma mater, Rowan University, as the 2009 commencement speaker. In 2012, the university honored Dave with their "Distinguished Alumni Award". Dave was recognized by the State of New Jersey as a "New Jersey Hero" during the inauguration of Governor Chris Christie. In 2011, Mr. Girgenti was an American Giving Awards recipient and was featured on a 2-hour prime time special on NBC, hosted by Bob Costas. Dave was the recipient of the "Circle of Excellence Award" by Smart CEO magazine. In 2013, Dave spoke at Tedx Cape May and returned the following year as the host event.
