Dr. Nathanial Hearne: Empowering Lives and Creating Legacies

Dr. Nathanial Hearne is an extraordinary individual who epitomizes the essence of overcoming adversity and achieving greatness. As an educator, motivator, mentor, executive, pastor, and trainer, he has led countless individuals to exceed their expectations and surpass even their wildest dreams.

A significant chapter in Dr. Hearne's life involved his pivotal role in the lives of the football players and coaches depicted in the acclaimed film "Friday Night Lights."  As an Assistant Coach, he not only instilled a love for honor and sportsmanship in each team member but also led rigorous strength and stamina conditioning sessions. Under his guidance, the Permian High School team achieved remarkable success, winning the National Football Championship in 1989 and becoming State Champions in 1991.

His impact extended beyond football as he transitioned into educational leadership roles. As an Assistant Principal and later Principal in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD of Texas, Dr. Hearne embarked on an ambitious mission to turn around the Discipline Alternative Education Program for challenging students. Over five years, he motivated hundreds of potential dropouts to persevere, remain in school, and ultimately graduate. In recognition of his exceptional work, the "Texas School Business" magazine hailed his Dropout Prevention Program as the best in Texas in 2010.

Dr. Hearne's personal journey is a testament to the power of determination and faith. Growing up as one of eight children in a humble household with industrious parents, he excelled academically despite initially feeling disenchanted with school. A staunch believer in honoring one's commitments, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education at North Texas State University in 1974. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, he returned to the University of Texas in 1979, earning a Master of Arts. While serving as the Football Defensive Coordinator and Conditioning Coach at Clarksville ISD, he pursued a Master of Divinity degree at SMU in 1998. He furthered his spiritual journey the following year when he became an Ordained Minister.

Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Dr. Hearne obtained a Doctor of Ministry from SMU in 2009. However, his ultimate passion and remarkable achievement lie in his captivating presentations on "Leaving a Legacy." These dynamic talks evoke a rollercoaster of emotions, inspiring audiences to cheer one minute and shed tears the next. An example can be found at:

"An outstanding person, fantastic coach, and molder of men, Dr. Hearne tells it like it is. When Dr. Hearne says, but rarely do the goals measured by secular success address the long-term, inner character development of the athlete, he is promulgating a profound message that should be tattooed across the forehead of every coach of student athletes."
