Bio:

Not enough commitment, courage and clarity gnawed at Shannon Skinner until one day a dear friend made a shocking announcement that changed her life forever. He had less than one year to live. This caused Shannon give pause and ask herself: If I had one year to live, what would I do?

Yes, she had asked herself this quality question before. But this time it was different. This time, she felt a sense of urgency, a need to answer the question and follow up with solid action.

Committed to move past all obstacles and naysayers, Shannon launched her BIG dream. In less than 30 days, she premiered Shannon Skinner's Extraordinary Women TV ™, a first-of-its-kind television series (Rogers TV & web) and online platform that inspires the lives of hundreds of thousands through intimate, personal interviews, insights and commentaries. Since Sept. 2010, Shannon has produced 52 episodes of her show for television, and more than 300 webisodes.

In June 2015, Shannon launched her new radio show, Shannon Skinner Live on VoiceAmerica Women, as an extension of her television work. Through her shows and media channels, regular column in The Huffington Post news site, and personal blog, Shannon is reaching millions, and her featured appearances and keynote talks inspire women around the globe.

Her signature book, The Whispering Heart: Your Inner Guide to Creativity, provides how-to guidance to discovering and living your dream. She writes for several publications on women's issues and travel, her greatest source of inspiration.

Carrying on from a lineage of broadcasters, Shannon has established herself as a pioneer in internet broadcast. She is the recipient of the Alumni of Influence Award 2014 from the University of Saskatchewan's College of Arts & Science for "being a trailblazer who is inspiring and affecting change for women across Canada and around the world."

She is a member of Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS), Women in Film and Television (WIFT), the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Toronto, and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. Additionally, she is a media expert with the Centre for Media and Celebrity Studies and Board Member of Sampradaya Dance Creations, a highly regarded arts organization on the forefront of South Asian dance in Canada.

Other screen credits include a principal role in the television series Motives and Murder (as Detective Karen Good) on Investigative Discovery (US) and OWN (Canada), season 3.

Shannon began her career as a public relations professional more than 20 years ago and continues to provide communication consulting to select clients.

Shannon has appeared in LIFE magazine, Good Morning America, Rogers TV Daytime, Global TV, Canadian Living, Notable.ca, Good News Toronto and Infinity Magazine. Internationally, she has appeared in media from across India to Mexico, including "DD News TV" Delhi, The Telegraph, among others.
