Mark Stoddard
MA, Entrepreneur in Residence
UT, US
Mark Stoddard, has been called an "innovative and ingenious" thinker/producer. As "an Air Force brat" he lived in Germany and England and graduated from Central High School in London. He co-starred in "Not to Be" in London's West End. Though he studiously avoided the idea of a career involved with theater, he could not overcome his personal passion for it and from those early teen years theater has been part of his life. He obtained a Master of Arts in Communications, Theater Arts, & English at BYU. He proceeded to follow his entrepreneurial instincts and developed a business career with an emphasis in marketing and solid business practices.
He has developed and taught skills in fundraising, negotiating, marketing, and more, and has been a sought-after guest speaker at universities and conferences. He has written 17 books on business as well as several plays,
Michael Grilikhes, creator of Disney on Parade hired Mark to be the stage manager for ten stages at the Los Angeles Street Scene Festival and hired Mark to become a line producer for film. At the time, Mark was immersed in a burgeoning marketing career and did not want to make a change. The following list merely touches on some of his career highlights. A full bio, about four pages, gives details and is available upon request.
√ He designed and developed scores of businesses which have enviable track records, as well as thriving non-profit foundations. He took one organization from 3000 donors to more than 280,000. He has produced dozens of marketing programs for more than 30 products, producing sales of over $600 million.
√ His best-selling books on business, along with a seven-volume workbook, was translated into Russian and Chinese and is used at several universities, including Beijing Univerisity, and Moscow State. The first volume of this set reached the deputy minister of Higher Education for the USSR, and Mark was invited to a special conference in Moscow where he taught 150 of the top Soviet leaders from all 15 republics about moving from a communist economy to a free market economy. Thereafter he taught political leaders of the 17 largest cities as well as President Yeltsin's Council of Ministers-his cabinet, and was the first foreigner to ever address the Supreme Soviet of Ukraine, and more.
√ He established an international cruise company that took more than 5,000 Americans on a cruise ship with Russian citizens so they could get to know each other and let the Russians show the Americans their country. The good from that has been incalculable. Hundreds of young Russians came to America to get their university training, many joint venture businesses were started, barriers broken down and thousands of lives changed.
√ He has taught workshops and consulted with thousands. He has been a guest speaker at many universities, e.g., New York City College, Binghamton, Kentucky, DePauw, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Willamette, University of Calgary, Moscow State University, Polytechnic Institute of Havana, BYU, and was the Entrepreneur in Residence at Utah Valley University. Comments from participants in his workshops: "masterful" "fascinating and engaging" "His writing is as engaging as [his] speaking....should be required reading." "most readable book on business I've come across."
√ He has won writing awards and has written a six-hour miniseries. And, oh yes, on the side he takes on community service projects, such as being the head of the Freedom Festival Parade in Provo, Utah, one of the biggest Fourth of July events in the nation.
