Hal Gregersen

US
Professor of Leadership at INSEAD

A cutting-edge innovation and leadership guru, co-author of "The Innovator's DNA" (with Clayton Christensen and Jeff Dyer), and Executive Director of the MIT Sloan Leadership Center, Hal Gregersen challenges organizations and individuals to question the way we think and act to make our world a better, more creative place.

While Hal's expertise expands across all areas of innovative leadership, his current area of focus is the art and skill of questioning. Inspired by the words of Peter Drucker - "The most serious mistakes are not being made as a result of wrong answers. The true dangerous thing is asking the wrong question" - Hal has garnered firsthand research from some of the most respected leaders in the world to better understand questioning's ability to change the way we view and interact with the world. This research led Hal to create his Catalytic Questioning methodology, a five-step process to help individuals be innovative thinkers and doers in their professional and personal lives. It also served as the gateway for the 4-24 Project, an initiative Hal founded to rekindle the provocative power of asking the right questions in adults so they can pass this crucial creativity skill onto the next generation.

Putting insight into practice, Hal, along with Christensen and Dyer, recently partnered with the Apollo Group and its subsidiary University of Phoenix to contribute to Innovator's Accelerator™, a breakthrough online learning experience that helps organizations build and sustain a competitive advantage. Hal regularly delivers inspirational keynote speeches, motivational executive seminars and transformational coaching experiences. He also works with a diverse set of companies to help them master the challenges of innovation and change, from Christie's to IBM to the World Economic Forum.
