Bell has previously served on the faculties of Belk College of Business Administration, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale's School of Management, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.The research interests of Professor Bell focus on the career and life histories of professional African-American and European-American women. She is currently inquiring into issues of work/life balance. She has served as a consultant to Fortune 500 companies and to many public institutions. Her scholarly works have been reported in many top publications, and her book, Our Separate Ways: Black and White Women and the Struggle for Professional Identity, has been widely acclaimed.
Ella L.J. Edmondson Bell, Ph.D., is the founder and president of ASCENT¿¿¿Leading Multicultural Women to the Top, as well as an Associate Professor of Business Administration at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. She is considered by industry to be one of the leading experts in the management of race, gender, and class in the workplace. Dr. Bell is also the coauthor of the groundbreaking and critically acclaimed book Our Separate Ways: Black and White Women and the Struggle for Professional Identity (Harvard Business School Press). Dr. Bell received her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior, from Case Western Reserve University. She has served on the faculties of Yale's School of Organization and Management, the Sloan School of Management, MIT, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She was a Visiting¿¿¿Fellow¿¿¿Scholar¿¿¿In¿¿¿Residence at the Bunting Institute of Radcliffe College. Dr. Bell lives in Hanover, New Hampshire and Charlotte, North Carolina with her Jack Russell terrier, Belle.
