Jim Leligdon
"Partially Sighted – Entirely Motivated"
Born blind, and with only some of his sight surgically restored, Jim could have easily grown up with a bitter attitude. However, through the support of family and friends, he has discovered that one can be blessed, even in the face of physical adversity.
Jim grew up in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, where he attended a special school for the first two years of his primary education. Prior to entering second grade, he asked for the opportunity to attend school with his twin brother, John. His request was granted and helped to change the way special education worked in their school district. Jim graduated from Bradley University with a double major in Radio/Television Production and Creative Advertising.
After working as a stage announcer, radio personality, computer programmer, and technical support analyst, Jim discovered the role of corporate trainer, and he's been enjoying that work for over two decades. Jim currently works for an international union.
He and his wife Barb live in Las Vegas, Nevada. They have two grown children, Courtney and Nick. While Jim enjoys spending time with his family, he has motivated and facilitated on four continents. His experiences traveling around the globe have taught him many things about his physical challenges while enhancing his "Can do" attitude.
When He's not conducting a training session, Jim is speaking to groups of special needs students or adults, parents of children with disabilities, special education teachers, and even corporate audiences. Through these motivational conversations, he shares life experiences and answers audience questions along the way.
Jim hopes to motivate and inspire individuals who face some type of physical or emotional challenge, have a family member or a coworker with a disability, or even those who just need a push in a positive direction. Jim believes, "We all have some type of perceived limitation. Examining and understanding it is the key to success".
