Shelley Goldbeck
Shelley Goldbeck, DTM, Thinker, Writer, Speaker,
Professional Emcee and Host, Funeral Celebrant
Professional Emcee and Host: "Running the show" isn't as easy as it looks and it's not a "one woman" show either. But properly hosting events is an important job requiring a unique combination of skills.
I love to connect with people and doing it from the stage can be tricky. It starts long before the curtain rises with collaboration with you and your team.
I'm a stickler for keeping your event on schedule, yet flexible when those magic moments occur.
I am a hoarder of information so my material is fresh, relevant, and always audience appropriate.
While my left brain keeps us on time, organized and appropriate, my right brain loves to come up with off the wall ideas to keep your program from being boring! Props, songs and poems are just some of the tools at my disposal.
Funeral Celebrant: "Your loved ones are gone but their stories live on."
Families are choosing Celebrations of Life over traditional religious funerals. I've been honoured to use my skills to work with families to celebrate their loved ones' lives.
Speech Coach: I coach professionals with English as a Second (or third or fourth) Language. www.AccentReductionCompany.com
Thinker, Writer, Speaker: I am the author of the blog, www.OneWomansOpinion.com, where I share my opinion on a variety of issues and topics. I satisify my passion for food by blogging at www.WholeRealFood.com and gardening at www.GrowFoodCalgary.com.
I have a background in marketing, web site development and a history of common sense in business. I write, publish books, and speak on a variety of topics.
I read two books per week from a number of genres and have read over 1000 books in the past ten years. My interests include but are not limited to grandchildren, gardening, and golf; reading, writing and real estate; music and marketing; health issues, cooking and eating real food; politics and learning foreign languages.
I live in Calgary and enjoy regular visits from two daughters and two granddaughters, aka Grandtoys.

Accent Reduction
Have you ever heard a speaker that you can't understand because English is their second language?
In Canada, this is a common problem. I decided to do something about it. I developed a program to fine tune the pronunciation skills of ESL speakers so they can better communicate thus improving the bottom line.
My target is companies with educated, ESL professionals willing to work to improve their communication skills. I offer classes, coaching, and online information. Search...
Last Minute Speaker and custom emceeing
All speakers/performers have emergencies arise that prevent them from fulfilling their speaking commitments. Parents die, appendices attack, legs break.
Don't let down your clients. Call the Last Minute Speaker, Shelley Goldbeck.
The truth is I work best under pressure so last minute stuff is no big deal to me.
Because I have a wide swath of interest, I can come up with a speech of almost any length on almost any topic to appeal to almost any audience. (I've...

Whole Real Food
I speak to audiences on the basic tenets of healthy eating. No dieting. No fad foods. Just common sense and a focus on real food.
Keynotes include: How Sweet It Isn't, my personal journey as I eliminate processed sugar from my diet.
I teach others how to grow their own food based on about 50 years of gardening, if you count years of child slave labour in my parents' vegetable patch.
Hippocrates said, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food"...
