Terry has over 30 years of experience in communication skills training and many of his programs were founded on a guiding principle: the spoken word is the most powerful tool to influence and inspire. His method of coaching focuses on a person's natural style and their state of mind. Every communication must be designed to meet the needs of the listener. Terry believes by teaching professionals to access their own natural style, unique abilities and valuable attributes they can deliver powerful messages that change behavior and beliefs. As a change agent and catalyst, Terry's emphasis is on improving the way people and businesses communicate. His distinctive method, "State of Mind," guides professionals to create a connection with their audience by using communications skills developed from their own experiences and innate strengths. The theme of Terry's book Life's a Pitch – rethinks the word "pitch" as it applies to all communications. During his work as a writer in Hollywood, he became highly skilled at the fine art of pitching and realized that "pitching" was a critical component of everything we do in life. "It all boils down to our power to connect with people, whether in leadership, business or our own personal lives." Terry graduated from the University of California at Davis with a degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences and began his career as an advertising copywriter and account executive in Northern California. Terry developed his expertise through his many years of work in improvisational theatre where he worked as an actor, writer and a teacher. He was also a film and television writer in Los Angeles, and a playwright in the San Francisco area, where his critically acclaimed play Bar None was hailed as the longest running comedy in San Francisco. Terry splits his time between San Francisco and Los Angeles but will go wherever his clients need him.
