
Jonathan Wilkins
Jonathan Wilkins was born and raised in the Dallas, TX. He attended Ft. Worth’s Dunbar High School and graduated in 1997. He went on to earn a B.A. in General Management from Morehouse College in 2001 where he served as Freshman and Junior Class President.
Prior to graduate school, Rev. Wilkins worked five years in the for-profit, non-profit and quasi government sectors. His work centered primarily on community and economic development.
In June 2008 Jonathan was ordained in the Progressive National Baptist Convention under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Charles G. Adams, Senior Pastor of Hartford Memorial Baptist Church. In August 2008 Jonathan was elected Senior Pastor of Western Avenue Baptist Church (WABC) in Cambridge, MA where he focused on outreach initiatives and developing sustainable policies and procedures that nearly doubled the church’s membership.
In 2009, Jonathan, completed four years of graduate work becoming the only Harvard Graduate in 2009 to earn both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School and a Master of Divinity (MDiv.) from Harvard Divinity School.
In October 2010, Jonathan hosted the 1st annual “We Got Next Boston” Young Adult Empowerment Conference. The conference was held in the wake of the tragic murders of four young adults and a young child in Mattapan. Drawing well over 500 attendees and young professionals the conference featured a concert, three worship services, and Saturday panel discussions on ways to curb youth violence.
After three years of pastoring WABC, Jonathan joined the pastoral leadership team at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the dynamic leadership of Pastor Charles Jenkins. Jonathan serves under Pastor Jenkins as the Director of Business Operations and the Director of Fellowship’s Education and Economic Development Corporation which is overseeing the design and development of the Legacy Project (a mixed-use redevelopment of 225,000 square feet of space.)
In his role at Fellowship, Jonathan also serves as the Young Adult Minister at Fellowship and with a team is leaders is launching We Got Next Chicago as an outgrowth of the Good Life Young Adult Ministry at Fellowship to foster fellowship and outreach across the city among young adults.
Jonathan is also the proud father of one son and believes his spiritual mandate is to serve Pastor Jenkins and the Fellowship Family in this incredible season of “Inspiring Love and Igniting Good” across the city of Chicago. In the words of Paul in Acts 26:22, he has “obtained help from God to continue unto this day.”
