Founder of Praying Single Mothers (PSM) and Make It Art Design (MIA) is just a fraction of who LaVeda Jones really is. LaVeda Jones is a native of Mobile, Alabama and a longtime resident of the Chicago Metropolitan community. With a lifelong passion for the arts, LaVeda holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the International Academy of Design. In keeping with her love for art and children, she spent ten years as a Teacher.
As a divorced parent and minister, LaVeda discovered that many single parents were in need of additional resources in order to navigate the complexities of parenting. Out of this need and her passion and gift for helping others, Praying Single Mothers, NFP, (PSM) was created. LaVeda founded PSM in 2009. It began as a global, nondenominational spiritual network for single mothers, divorced mothers, separated mothers, surrogate mothers and widowed mothers. In creating PSM, LaVeda sought to connect with other single mothers with one common goal – daily trusting God. PSM is a not-for-profit organization wherein single mothers connect, attend empowerment conferences and workshops, mentoring, share experiences, and gather resources. Since its inception, PSM has grown from just a few persons to over 1000 members in the network. PSM was recognized in 2011 for their S.M.O.T.Y. Award Program (Single Mother of the Year).
LaVeda Jones has a heart for people and is a leader known for her gift of servant leadership, which she has put to use serving a number of ministries. LaVeda serves as a Board Member of Loving Arms Youth Foundation.
LaVeda can be booked for speaking engagements, workshops on empowerment, servant leadership training, solo parenting, mentoring and religious events.
