Gordon Sheppard is a Management Consultant who specializes Succession Planning, Organizational Strategy and Leadership Development. Through a combination of formal Management training and more than 20 years of Communications and Marketing experience, Gordon has provided exceptional value to clients from a variety of industries including construction, oil and gas, utilities, retail, media, small and medium sized businesses, as well as provincial and local governments.

Gordon’s approach is to ‘start with the end in mind’ by working with clients to establish clear, achievable goals. He then ensures that there is a mutually agreed upon vision to support these goals. From this starting point, Gordon then provides his clients with a set of practical options that they can choose from and put into action. Working from the premise that ‘the solution is in the room’ he is adept at targeting critical details while keeping an eye on the big picture. He is also experienced at handling tough conversations, which allows him to deal with the significant emotional component that is a critical part doing business.

Throughout his career Gordon has held leadership positions in both corporate and non-profit organizations. He also understands what it takes to be a successful business owner since he founded Succession Managers Incorporated in 2012. This well-rounded experience helps Gordon to understand and work with Managers at all levels, enabling them to achieve their objectives and grow the overall value of their organizations. Gordon is also an effective facilitator and speaker, with a straightforward interactive approach that not only challenges leaders, but also gives them tools that they can put to use right away.

Gordon has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Alberta School of Business, and he also has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Queen’s University. He is currently completing his qualifications to become a Certified Management Consultant and he is a member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants (CMC-Canada). For Gordon, the most important aspect of being a CMC-Canada member is that the organization has a high standard and holds him accountable for his actions. For example, if a client
doesn’t like what Gordon is doing, they can file a complaint with CMC Canada, and Gordon could be reprimanded or have his membership revoked.

Gordon’s specialties include; Succession Planning; Organization Strategy; Leadership Development & Training; Meeting and Workshop Facilitation; Risk Management Advisory; Negotiation; Public Speaking; Communications Planning; Marketing Strategy. Within these areas he has lead teams and provided support on multiple assignments in business process improvement and design, project management, risk management, value growth and coaching.
