
Preston Trombly
PRESTON TROMBLY is best known to classical music devotees as the host of Sirius/XM Satellite Radio's nationally broadcast Symphony Hall channel. He was previously on the air in New York over classical music stations WQXR FM and the former WNCN.
He has also been an artist for most of his life. His first artistic successes were as a musician—composer, performer, and conductor. More recently he has been working in the visual arts.
Preston Trombly received his visual arts education at New York’s Art Students League. He received his Master of Musical Arts degree from the Yale University School of Music. He was a Fellow in Composition and Conducting at the Tanglewood-Berkshire Music Center, a Guggenheim Fellow and a resident fellow at the MacDowell Colony, along with receiving grants from The NEA and the NYState Council on the Arts among others. He earned his Bachelor of Music with Honors from the University of Connecticut.
His original music has been played throughout America, and his visual art has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the greater New York Metropolitan and Tri-State areas. His recent talks and lectures include those at Penn State University, Westfield State University, Southern Utah University, The University of Connecticut. The National Arts Club, the Newark Museum, and The Jasper Rand Museum.
