Melanie McLane is a practicing broker, appraiser, and instructor.  She has been in the real estate business all of her adult life, and owns and runs a brokerage, and continues to do appraisals, so her knowledge is "real life" and "real time".  A certified AQB (Appraisal Qualifications Board) USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) instructor, she not only writes and teaches appraisal classes, she takes her knowledge of valuation to real estate agents in ways they can understand and utilize.  Melanie's market includes a substantial second home market, so the NAR designation RSPS (Resort and Second Property Specialist) has always been near and dear to her. In 2012, NAR named her "RSPS Practionier of the Year".  She teaches RSPS, and a number of REBAC (Real Estate Buyer Agency Council) courses, such as ABR. In 2008, she was inducted into the REBAC Hall of Fame as an instructor.  She holds a number of real estate designations, and also teaches CRB courses. As a broker for over 30 years, she understands what it is like to run a real estate business. A prolific writer, she has written two books on appraisal topics for Hondros College, one on foreclosure and one on valuing green buildings. She writes most of the continuing education courses she teaches.  Additionally, Melanie, is has the Certified Distance Education Instructor (CDEI) designation, and writes online courses. She has the ability to tailor a presentation to a group, and will also make certain she is up to date on current laws in the state(s) where the course is offered.  Her energy and enthusiasm have made her a speaker at many state real estate conventions, including the Triple Play convention (NJ, NY and PA) for over 10 years in a row. Additionally, she has presented several times at the NAR convention. A graduate of Kenyon College, she is located in central Pennsylvania.
