What the hell is Zen? And furthermore what is Zen Arts?

We have only heard a few adequate descriptions of Zen. And since one of Zen’s primary teachings, is that nothing can be adequately described, we will not do it here.

Whether or not Doug Miller and Susie Culini aligned this Zen axiom, with their most indescribable and spectacular Los Angeles based performance troupe on purpose… is yet to be discovered.

Their fantastic armada of fire dancers, aerialists, acrobats, burlesque dancers, go-go dancers, fire breathers, belly dancers, stilt walkers, and overall cirque style rabble rousers is something to see and not read about.

Because we can barely describe it.

From what we do know… inspired by the world of circus, high fashion and high art, Los Angeles fire dancers Susie Culini and Doug Miller have fused together an incredible team of artists and cirque performers from around the world to fill the void in any event. From corporate event entertainment to live music shows, they bring what few people in the world do: A presence of luminous beauty and striking aesthetic. A world of magic and sexiness. A world of fun and intrigue. When Zen Arts performers walk into a venue they charge up the air with electricity no matter who’s in the crowd.

Zen Arts can be, but is not just event entertainment. They are an experience. We can hardly describe how great it is to watch a conservative Japanese businessman in a three piece suit, numbed from trivial conversation and mediocre corporate entertainment, turn into a five year old when out of nowhere, a Zen Arts aerial acrobat swoops out of the air and tingles his senses. We love watching Hollywood socialites drop their mouths wide open and gaze upon the mastery of a Zen Art’s fire dancer merging with their primal element, while the worlds most progressive electronic music sinks deep into the ambiance.

Nice!

We’ve seen mind-blowing murals be painted during the course of a DJ Set. We’ve seen beautiful scantily clad ladies of unsurpassed beauty fall out of the rafters spinning and twisting their way to the ground like falling stars… only to land gracefully with a smile. We’ve seen contortionists wrapped in fabric high above the ground swinging like the moon. We’ve seen five or six firedancers at a time, swing chains with balls of fire at the end, called Poi, to delicious rhythms. We’ve seen costumes like We’ve never seen before.

We do not know what any of this means or what its for. But like Zen, it lends a certain clarity to our heart. It reminds us to see the world with childlike wonder. It reminds us that things don’t need meaning to be beautiful and spectacular. They only need to be. Zen Arts brings that spectacular being to any occasion, private or corporate entertainment. This reminder alone, will take us again and again, to any show they do.
