Married in 1982, Steve worked as a graphic designer and Annette stretched their meager earnings until they begged for mercy.
In the first 9 years of marriage, on an average income of only $35,000 they purchased and paid off a four-bedroom house. Over time they paid cash for all of their cars, took fantastic debt-free vacations and put their kids through college without any loans.
Prior to becoming best-selling authors, Steve worked as an advertising account executive serving the needs of Fortune 500 companies.
Together they ran a successful volunteer financial coaching organization, helping scores of families learn to better manage their personal finances. In 2003, after years of helping families get right on the money, Steve & Annette created the MoneySmartFamily brand and started writing about their debt-free financial strategies.
Since that time they have appeared in hundreds of media outlets providing sensible advice and practical financial solutions that resonate with every social market and income level. They have also become frequently requested speakers to civic groups, libraries, family conventions and businesses as they travel around America sharing their message that frugality frees and debt destroys.
