Ronna Detrick
M.Div.
WA, USConversation about God (which really means conversation about everything that matters ~ relationships, religion, spirituality, politics, work, leadership, money, parenting, everything!)
You might think that because Ronna is ordained, a spiritual director, and the former wife of a pastor that she has answers about God, an unshakeable faith, and is a devout church-attendee. You'd be mistaken.
She talks about faith because she doubts. She talks about God because she hopes. And she creates sacred spaces for community, conversation, and congregation because she believes others are praying for the same.
Ronna creates and offers rich, winsome, tender, and strong presentations/events. Not trying to convince or even compel; rather, listening to the stories of individuals and/or institutions and offering new ones; wondering together about a way of understanding and experiencing God that does not embarrass or require us to swallow everything but the kitchen sink when it comes to doctrine or dogma. And thinking powerfully about how spirituality affects everything: relationships, religion, politics, work, leadership, money, parenting, everything.
Ronna brings both academic credentialing and years of professional experience. She started with a B.A. in Business and Communications and a human resources career - strategic conversations about people's skills and struggles. Later, she moved into nonprofits and work that offered her a lens on the world that informs her hunger for social justice. She moved to Korea, met a man, moved back to the U.S., got married, and lived life. She agonized and grieved over infertility. She gained a wealth of experience as a pastor's wife and (eventually / miraculously / ongoing) as a mother. She went back to school and got her Master of Divinity degree. She got hired into a leadership position by that institution. She got divorced. She got ordained. She got laid off. And she launched her own business. All of this and then some is what enables Ronna to relate to distinct and diverse audiences. In addition, it is what creates an entire queue of stories and experiences from which to offer wisdom, perspective, and of course, good stories.
Ronna is a writer, a spiritual director, a trainer, a facilitator, and of course, a speaker. She is active on social media platforms, has been blogging for over seven years, and when not in virtual worlds (though sometimes simultaneously) is a mom to two teenage daughters: her deepest pride and highest joy.
Ronna has offered keynotes, workshops, and retreats for corporations, leadership teams, religious organizations, the Department of Defense, and groups of all sizes. She blends smart content, an engaging speaking style, and a passionate heart. Her audience consistently speaks of her professionalism, motivational ability, and endless energy. She is asked back. She is applauded. She loves what she does!
