Shane was like many normal kids growing up. He loved to play outside with his friends, go swimming and do all the things other kids would do. In high school he played many sports and was on the student council. When he turned 16 it wasn't so sweet. He noticed his life changing as well as his thoughts. It continued to worsen and Shane was diagnosed with severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, OCD, at the age of 19. He was told at one point by doctors that he would never be able to live a normal life, hold down a job, have a family or be able to function in society. At his lowest point, Shane was sleeping in his vehicle so he wouldn't mess up his bed. He was eating raw potatoes in order to not mess up his kitchen. It was suggested he opt for brain surgery but he declined. Shane even considered taking his own life to not have to live in this "OCD hell/prison" as he called it.
