I am a writer/producer, and author of Chicken Soup for the Soul: Country Music edition. I also do a blog/podcast, faithinfilmguy.com, about faith-based and indie films. I speak on the film industry.

EXPERIENCE: I am a writer/producer with Christian Broadcasting Network. I've also worked a an Assistant professor of English and journalism for 18 years at Tennessee State University, Nashville State Community College, and Aquinas College (Nashville)

PUBLCATIONS/CREDITS: I am the author of Chicken Soup for the Soul/Country Music edition (Chicken Soup for the Soul Books, 2011), which includes stories behind 101 classic country, bluegrass, and folk songs. I've also edited the 2007 Country Music Reader anthology with Rosanne Cash, and co-produced the documentary, 40 Years on the Farm, on the oldest hippie commune in the U.S. (located in Summertown, Tennessee). I've published over 200 articles in various academic and popular culture periodicals and journals, including Southern Cultures (University of North Carolina) Southern Crossroads (Mercer University) The Pinch (University of Memphis), Significant Living, The Washington Post, Country Weekly, The Writer, Script, American Profile, Nashville Lifestyles, and many others.

EDUCATION: I have an MFA in Creative Writing from the Univ. of Memphis, an MA in Literature from Tennessee State University, and a BA in Communications from Mount Union College. 

I have written and produced a PBS documentary, a collection of personal essays, and written four screenplays, one of which has been purchased and is in development.

SPEAKING: I do an enterttaining and motivational presentaiton called "Let's Go to the Movies," in which I share short clips from films such as Field of Dreams, 7 Days in Utopia, and Rudy, to illustrate success principles. 

I also speak on the rise in popularity of faith-based films and what we can learn about this from a business and spiritual perspective.

I do an entertaining and motivational presentation utilizing clips from famous Hollywood films, such as Field of Dreams,  Amazing Grace (the William Wilberforce story), and Rudy to ilustrate principles of success.
