Wendy Naarup

Appleton, WI, US
Survivor, Ironman champion, author, and mom traveling through life one mistake at a time

On the surface:  A product of corporate America, Wendy gained sales and management experience while working for AT&T. Then she became a corporate trainer for Norwest Bank prior to spending several years as a full-time mom. As her children started school, she worked part time while training for and winning her age group at Ironman Wisconsin. After competing in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii in 2008, her focus shifted to speaking, consulting, and writing.

Below the surface:  What happens when you drop a piece of fruit in the produce section of the grocery store?  If you're nice, you might pick it up and put it back on the shelf but you don't bring it home.  It's bruised.  It's no good.  For 35 years, Wendy felt like that piece of fruit.  She survived a rape but didn't tell anyone, hoping to avoid the shame and judgment that would follow.  As a result she became a victim.

Wendy has learned that you are defined, not by the challenges you face, but by how you face those challenges.  With compassion and humor, her keynote will take you from victim to champion in every aspect of your life.

Wendy has written three books and has a novel in progress.  She speaks regularly to college students and women's groups.
