Barb Langlois is a popular speaker, trainer and writer. She is known for fun, inspiring and pragmatic workshops, keynotes and articles. You will find her energizing presentations and workshops full of usable take home tools and strategies. Barb uses her education, research and experience to deliver a passionate message filled with humour and insights that help you create powerful leadership choices.
Barb worked in health care for 21 years in a range of positions including critical care nurse, educator, instructor and manager. In 2004, Barb completed her master's degree, from the University of British Columbia, with a focus on leadership. In her first year as manager, she was nominated for a prestigious "Above and Beyond" award for her leadership with teams.
Barb continued her focus on leadership, working with organizational gurus to become certified in leadership workshops including: Clear Leadership, Power Systems, Managing Transitions and Engaging Learners. She routinely runs these multi day workshops. She has also extensively studied personal leadership, learning many key leadership insights through experience, including walking on fire 108 times (in one evening) as part of the process of becoming a certified fire-walking instructor. She uses these insights to deliver powerful messages that keep you out of the fire!
Barb is a published author. Her feature article "Power Up: 10 Strategies for Positivity" was showcased in the January 2011 issue of Alive (a Canadian Health & Wellness magazine). She also was highlighted in the October 2010 issue of Alive as a contributing author for her article "Not Now I'm Too Busy: Overcome Procrastination in 3 Easy Steps." Barb's article "Break Through Your Fears" was published in two professional nursing journals (publisher's decision): Nursing Management 2009 and Nursing 2009.
Barb has been coached by a world champion of public speaking and has also been certified in teaching other's how to engage their audiences. She has presented her engaging presentations at national conferences including Canadian Nurses Association Leadership Conference, Canadian Nurses Association Biennial Conference, and to many organizations including Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Fraser Health Authority, Fraser Health Manager's Conference, Providence Health Care, Imagine Conference, Xi Eta Honour Society, Soroptimist International, BC Operating Room Nurses Group among others.
