Thomas Quinlin
The world is such an interesting place. In the short 60 years I have lived on this planet, the things I've seen and the experiences I've been fortunate enough to face have left a deep imprint on my soul. I currently live part time in Las Vegas, Nevada in the US. I have lived in Norway, Phuket, Thailand and Hong Kong. I currently manage the following active businesses in my life:
1. I've managed a real estate development project in Thailand building 270 condos, a 24 office commercial building and a 255 key 4-star hotel.
2. I also ran a film production company based in Hong Kong. I have produced one full length picture ("Murder Set Pieces) and am in the process of gathering funding to produce a full length television series tentatively titled "The Executioners".
3. I co-founded the world's first broadcasting company in Toronto Canada that will broadcast programs for and about people with disabilities. The broadcasting company is currently developing international treaty contacts with over a dozen countries in Western Europe, South America and Asia.
4. I am an author and have a book titled "Liberty Taken; Living Pretax on a Post Tax World". The book discusses the economics of creating and managing a business both domestically and internationally.
5. I have a 12 hour DVD set out entitled "Starting and Managing Your Own Private Foundation". I am also in the process of setting up a three to four day course that I hope to obtain continuing educational credits and have the course qualify for national certification in the area of charitable planning.
6. I run an investment fund in the US.
My interests are (not necessarily in order):
1. Mountain climbing (I have climbed on several continents).
2. Egyptology (I have been on many archeological digs in Egypt and specialize in the 1st, 6th and 18th dynasties).
3. Riding my Harley's (I have a Harley in the US and Thailand and have ridden a bike in over 40 countries, including a sabbatical in 2008 when I and 3 other friends rode our bikes through Thailand, Laos, Kampuchea (Cambodia) and Vietnam).
Here are topics on which I could speak:
1. Under inspirational category: How I integrated my professional and personal life to live my perfect calendar. This photo and story rich presentation (30-90 minutes) chronicles my life and what I learned from traveling to over 60 countries and living in six of them. The point of the presentation is design to get the creative juices flowing in the audience so that they can begin to see how they can become more entrepreneurial and financially secure, while a life with true purpose. I also discuss how incorporating philanthropy into my life changed me forever.
2. Under technical category: I could speak on any aspect of charitable planning and especially on the category of private foundations. Historically thought to be a tool of the rich, a foundation, when set up correctly, can provide tremendous lifestyle benefits in a very tax leveraged manner.
3. Under economic category: I can speak of the current and future economic trends, especially in Asia as I live there for a part of my life. Many people feel that China will be the next major superpower. I discuss why this will not be the case and that, for better or worse, the US is probably secure in its superpower position for at least the next 100 years.
4. Under inspirational/technical category: I can speak on the advantages of creating and managing your own company and giving up what I call the "W2 syndrome". I cover why it is so important that small businesses continue to be created all over the world. I also cover how easy it has become to create a multinational business and indeed in order to survive in the next 30 years going global is essential to reach critical mass in business profitability.
5. Under technical/marketing: I can speak on investment related topics; in particular I can overview in a way that is useful and interesting some very unusual asset classes that your stock broker has not discussed with you. This would include life settlements, auto loan paper and tax deed and tax lien certificates. I also have a presentation that discusses the advantages of true multi-asset class investing and cover historical data that confirms that one can increase returns while decreasing risk in his/her portfolio.
Any of the above topics I stay on top of because I live them - everyday. I am passionate about each topic and this will become evident in any presentation I give.
