Jeffrey Canter

PA, US
A straight shooter with a message about accountability for the millenial generation.

Jeff Canter is Founder and President of Step 1 Management Services, LLC. With more than 30 years of experience in managing and enabling businesses and individuals to realize more of their full potential, Jeff leverages pragmatic, real world experience to solve tough problems. He spent more than a dozen years working in the crisis-management atmosphere of the hospitality industry as both an owner and general manager, providing him a "trial by fire" perspective on decision-making and customer service. In subsequent roles as a Practice Leader in a strategic technology consultancy and as the senior Operations executive in a software development firm, Jeff developed his management and leadership skills while playing a direct role in growing a globally connected business.

Jeff regularly speaks to groups of business professionals on a variety of "mission critical" topics, including

  • The Mistakes That Managers Make (And How To Avoid Them)
  • Developing the Practical Manager
  • Management Accountability in a "Not My Job" World
  • The Five Fundamentals of Customer Service Excellence

In his direct, no nonsense style, Jeff cuts to the heart of the matter and lets the audience in on what he's thinking and how he got there.

Jeff has also authored numerous articles and white papers for various industry trade publications.

"There's a lot of bad management being practiced by talented, well intended, people. My personal and professional mission is to share my own experiences and lessons-learned with current and emerging leaders so that they can avoid falling into the traps that I and countless others have during our careers."
