About Marti

Marti is a humorous inspirational speaker, standup comic and internationally known author of the nationally award winning memoir Never Give in to Fear: Laughing All the Way Up from Rock Bottom. She is a certified mental health professional and an expert on trauma resolution and addiction. She's been interviewed in Investor's Business Daily and Entrepreneur, on ABC-TV, CBS-TV, FOX-TV and numerous radio stations. Her articles have appeared in over 150 corporate and trade magazines.

In addition to inspiring business professionals and hospital administrators and staff, she has spoken as a human trafficking survivor and advocate, at the White House, State Department, Office for Victims of Crime, and Dept. of Health and Human Services in Washington D.C.; and at The Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, at colleges and universities. She also spoke from the center of an MMA octagon at, "Fight Traffick," an anti-human trafficking cage-fighting event.

Marti has performed at the Hollywood Improv and L.A.'s Comedy Store, and has shared the stage with Gary Shandling and Alonzo Bodden, winner of Last Comic Standing. Marti is founder and producer of Laff-Aholics Standup Comedy Benefit for Recovery, an annual charity fundraiser in Indianapolis that features nationally headlining comedians. 100% of the profits from the show go to transitional housing facilities in Indy that provide services to the recovery community's most vulnerable.

The Indiana Addictions Issues Coalition (IAIC) honored Marti MacGibbon with the Recovery Advocate of the Year Award in 2014, and with Indiana Lifetime Recovery Advocate Award in 2015, for her work in breaking away the stigma surrounding addiction, mental health issues, domestic violence, and human trafficking.
