TARA BROWN

Tara Brown's 20 year career as a teacher and coach has taken her coast to coast from rural schools in Florida, to schools in gang territory in Long Beach, California and to one of Nashville's largest High Schools representing students from over 35 countries. Through her experiences and work with youth, Tara is recognized as a leading expert in connecting with youth and building relationships with students and staff.

Tara worked with Cities in Schools, the leading nonprofit dropout prevention organization in the nation and established a successful program at Lindburg Middle School in Long Beach, Ca. in the early 90's. She worked closely with at risk teens, many who were entrenched in the gang lifestyle, and helped empower them with leadership and life skills and reshape their view of the future.

In 2005, in Nashville Tn. Tara played a key role in piloting a Leadership Development program through Alignment Nashville at Antioch High School targeting non traditional leaders. Because of the success of this program, it expanded to all High Schools in Davidson county and earned Tara the Pioneer Award and Teacher of the Year Award in 2006.

Tara's passion continues to drive her to work with Teachers everywhere to better equip them with the ability to connect and have meaningful relationships with their students so that relevant learning can take place. She also is an author, entrepreneur and curriculum developer for innovative youth work.
