Teach a Man to Fish, presentation by Darerll Mangum.

Stop me if you heard this:

Either you get it or you don't. And we're not just talking about jokes! All information has a punch line. People communicate in dry, ineffective ways when they fight against their humorous side.

Your sense of humor is like any other skill, it can be developed and it can be improved. I can share techniques and material that will sharpen your communication skills and strengthen your funny bone.

Learning to tell jokes and collecting jokes is where my presentation starts. From there we learn to recognize patterns in our everyday communications that are like the patterns in the jokes we hear and learn.

Stick with me, soon you'll get it, and your jokes will get big laughs. But even more important, your communication in your business and personal life will be more effective

That's the primary focus Darrell Mangum brings to each presentation. His message: Change yourself, Change the world!

Whether you are learning a second language, telling a joke, or recovering from serious life changes, Darrell teaches lessons that are natural and powerful.

Could you recognize a person in need just by looking at them? What do they look like? What are the things they say and do? Maybe we need to learn to see others as we see ourselves.

What one thing could you do today that would change your life? Call your mother? Quit your job? Sell your house?

It's easy to see how these choices could change our lives. But what about the people we see every day around us?

We make a difference in the lives of all the people around us. When we become aware of our influence in the lives of others, our interactions become more meaningful and our actions change the world.

When we lift another person, we lift everyone. We make the world a better place.

Communication is the foundation of service. We'll find out how we can serve when we start asking others what we can do for them.

About Darrell Mangum:

Darrell has been speaking and teaching most of his life. Darrell began teaching guitar at age 14. He learned early on to help others develop hands-on communication skills.

Later in college Darrell developed an amazingly effective English language book called English Without An Accent. Focusing on personal challenges ESL students faced, Darrell's students have achieved immediate results using his methods.

Experiences he lived through, struggling as a young father, running an export business in Mexico, and years of community service working with people dealing with unemployment led Darrell through a series of life lessons that revealed patterns of human interaction and service and humor and even the very way we learn that are life changing. This is his message to you today.

Darrell prides himself on being easy to work with. Cooperation with a client is very important. Years performing as a guitarist in a band taught him that showing up on time and doing exactly what he's promised with a smile on his face is vital to the success of everyone involved. Darrell won't surprise you with unusual demands. Darrell is easy in negotiation and eager to please.

No one likes a show off, but here are some facts about Darrell:

•1.Father of four, married to a wonderful lady for 22 years, blues guitarist for 35 years. Proud member of his own family band.

•2.Teacher, author, computer programmer. Darrell is a fluent Spanish speaker.

•3.Darrell's work, career and studies have frequently put him in front of audiences, resulting in a wonderful talent for humor and speaking.

4. Experience as an amateur stand up comedian in a number of clubs.

What happens when Darrell presents?

Darrell is a master story teller. He holds his audience in the palm of his hands, captures their full attention, and sometimes makes them forget to breathe. Great stories are Darrell's winning suite, but the message behind the story is always golden.

Darrrell isn't some kind of guru. He's someone who's been there. He doesn't make funny demands of his audience and doesn't make them feel small or unimportant. There is value in every ounce of his message, but no hard to follow instructions.

This is powerful, life changing material. But it all has a common thread. Darrell's presentations are fun. Even the really heavy material and serious moments leave listeners with a smile. You should really know that Darrell is a funny guy. A lot of his work is really funny stuff! Audiences frequently roar with laughter.

But there are very important lessons to be learned. Darrell's presentations are never forgotten. Whether he's talking about languages, communications, achievement, jokes, or service, the message is always that our interactions with one another change and lift us. People who've attended Darrell's talks come away with new perspectives and always stay in contact and share their experiences with him.
