Kevin Bailey
Speaker/Author
NY, USMr. Bailey uses the hard earned lessons of his youth to inspire, motivate and uplift young people and those of his generation to aspire to do and to be anything that they dream of. This is a man who as a child experienced his home burning down to the ground and the loss of his two best friends in a drowning accident. He well knows every fear, loneliness, need and desperation of persons of all ages and all phases of life. His messages have an effect because they come from a place of realness as he stresses, "No excuses!"
Raised in a warm but strict home; and though surrounded by difficult times, the love and affection he received from his family gave him power and strength to be able to move out and expand his coasts while sharing those powerful lessons and bonds. As Mr. Bailey has said, "That display of love has driven me to be a giver to my fellow man; and totally engulfed my entire being every bit as much as those flames engulfed my home, while I and my family helplessly watched from the curb."
The fourteenth of fifteen siblings, Mr. Bailey's large 6'6 250lb frame is dwarfed only by his humility as he shares lessons from his childhood of surviving on limited resources, rising above hardships, and accepting responsibility for one's own personal success. Such as when he and his twin shoveled snow off of local courts and played long hours in the cold in desperation of gaining athletic scholarships, which they did, after being unexpectedly cut from their HS basketball team.
He does this in a most entertaining and provocative way. Many of his teachings discuss this and similar triumphs over failed personal relationships, shattered dreams, and overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds. He makes you feel the drama of his facing down the barrel of a gun to rescue a family member and his tragedy of losing many childhood friends to drugs and violence due to poor choices. Much of his shared information is that which most people would have to travel the globe to discover.
Surely Mr. Bailey does more than wow any audience that is privileged to hear him speak, he engages his audience with spontaneous banter; frequently encouraging participation in impromptu skits and roll playing.
He promises never a dull moment. When he is presenting sensitive material, he is serious and the room is quiet. Within minutes however, just as quickly, he can turn the audience into a laughing frenzy. He understands the importance of aligning his body language and temperament with each and every word delivered. His listeners are left anxious to race home and immediately put into action his heart felt message.

Learn why laughter works
It is no secret that a healthy attitude about life plays a big part in one's performance in life. All aspects of life; home, work or play is dramatically improved or damaged based on one's ability to find humor in things. Taking time out daily to read the comics, tell jokes, or to watch a funny movie or two goes a long way to making one a happy individual. This feeling accompanied by a warm smile is naturally transferred to all he/she meets with little or no effort, transforming an other wise mundane experience into something vibrant and rewarding. College Presidents and Principals, get more production from teachers, support staff, and students. Corporate execs and managers, pay for less sick days, and have fewer disgruntled employees which lead to better customer service and higher profits.
Relationship between physical and mental well being
Researchers have spoken of how positively a regular exercise routine contributes to mental well being. When one exercises there is a rush of energy from the increased oxygen flowing through the entire body. Results from exercising also enhances self esteem, which goes along way to protecting an individual from accepting self abuse or abuse of any kind from others. Also when one gets accustomed to setting and reaching physical goals, that confidence spills over into their daily social, academic and work life.
The rewards of selfless giving
Giving is contagious, so as you give, you receive. Also giving has a lot of healing properties. People generally feel good after voluntarily giving, which stimulates positive self gratification. When persons feel good about themselves, they generally go about doing good deeds. That enhances the environment in which they live and work, thereby making their goals more achievable.
The power of self suggestion and faith
There is a direct correlation between having faith in one's ability and achieving one's goals. Understanding the power of self suggestion goes a long way towards increasing one's ability to not only set more lofty goals but also to overcome all obstacles to reach goals. If you condition your self to think positive by practicing daily exercises, their is no limit to what the mind can achieve.
Single parents think you can, and you will overcome all obstacles to have the energy, wisdom, resources, joy and confidence to raise your child to be a leader amongst his/her peers on the way to becoming a young adult.
Using obstacles as shiny stepping stones to success
A young mechanic who dreamed of one day owning his own high performance shop was frustrated because he could not successfully repair his client's car. He was having problems getting the car to run efficiently though he had replaced every conceivable sensor that he could think of. He was so dismayed because of the panel light that kept flashing error that he wanted to fore-go his dream and sell off his entire $5,000 worth of tools. After hearing Kevin speak, he understood that though he had not yet figured out why his client's car was not responding to his efforts, in the interim, from his "failed" efforts he had found valuable short cuts to other issues that go wrong under the hood, thereby making him a better mechanic. Plus the outstanding customer service he had given the client, prompted her to refer two friends to him. He certainly understood that the obstacle he faced fixing her car, actually moved him closer to owning his own high performance shop after all. Obstacles are merely shiny stepping stones to success.
How self critique differs from self criticism
It is very important to be able to look into the mirror and make an honest evaluation of the person in the reflection. This is one of the truest forms of self critique that can stimulate change when needed. The act encourages one to identify strengths as well as weaknesses. Self criticism however is much different and can be much more harmful, whereby it causes one to focus almost only on the negatives, thereby causing a destructive feeling of self. Unlike buildings, people should never be torn down to be fixed.
Think Believe & Become RICH
When the mind and the body are in tune with one another from exercising good judgement, one is ready to aspire for great things and wealth of all kinds beyond measure.
We are generally taught in our youth to get a good education so that we can get a good paying job, with the hopes of some day retiring in good standing with a forty or fifty year pin. That's so that we may look forward to enjoying the Florida sun in our twilight years.
It is more fair and appropriate to teach young people to dream and to plan big things. To have a burning desire to acquire riches early in life so that they can have freedom of mind and body while still young enough to enjoy all the vigorous activities and adventures of life. Those riches they can also share with the world to rescue humanity from the ills of poverty and despair.
Furthermore, they need to be taught that "money is not the root of all evil," and that doing evil acts is!
I Can and NO Excuses
I Can and No Excuses, like the American Express card, no winner leaves home without them. There are so many ways to fail and so many reasons to win. If you doubt yourself you are leaning towards failure, but if you convince yourself you can't win, you are destined to failure. Winners find ways to win, losers find ways to lose. Life isn't always fair, but she does allow you choices. Our choices of action or non-action decide our victories and our defeats. People find all sorts of reasons to fail or to perform at or below satisfactory level. They use background, economic situation, past failures, lack of or diminished skills, environment, physical limitations, wrong neighborhood, lack of education etc. for reasons to prove to themselves and others why they can't. Winners find ways to prove others wrong in spite of real or perceived limitations by striving full throttle towards their goals. Many men and women have defied odds; Helen Keller did not allow her communication impairments to stop her from being one of the most influential persons in modern history. Ex slave Booker T Washington did not only get an education, he started his own college Tuskegee Institute. James Earl Jones was a stutterer before going on to his acclaimed acting and speaking career. The old Negro League star Satchel Page was well in his forties before he went on to pitch in the major leagues. When asked by a reporter how he could still perform at such a high level at his age, his response was, and I paraphrase; "How old would you be if you did not know how old you are?" Further evidence that though age does limit physical abilities, limits in the mind limit one's abilities much more. So to the mom who always wanted to be a ballerina, get the leotards out of the closet and find the world. To the grandfather, instead of just resting on the park bench listening to the band, dust off that saxophone in the wooden trunk and join in.
Accountability-Responsibility
We must accept accountability and responsibility for everything we do and say. The choices we make daily will either bring us to great heights or the lowest of lows. Even those of us who have had meager beginnings can, as many of us have, overcome those poor beginnings by making choices that lead to positive results. Negative behaviors, keeping company with disruptive persons, and frequenting places that are void of positive activities almost always lead to dire consequences. There are times when the urge to reach out to others for tough answers comes upon us. However, we don't always have the luxury of that resource; therefore we must prepare ourselves daily by learning and practicing good decision making. Though we will make mistakes at times, as in all things that are practiced well, the mistakes will become fewer and the rewards more frequent.
"The wrong place at the wrong time is almost always the wrong place all of the time. If it feels wrong, it probably is. To survive the wrong place anytime is similar to rolling a lucky number in an ill-advised dice game." -Kevin Bailey
