Gioia Diliberto, the author of five books, started her career as a journalist and still contributes articles to The New York Times and other publications. A twenty year obsession with John Singer Sargent's "Madame X" led to her first novel, I Am Madame X. Her life-long passion for fashion was the inspiration behind The Collection, a novel set in Coco Chanel's atelier in 1919. The book is being translated into several languages and has been optioned by the movies. Ms. Diliberto has lived in Washington, D.C., New York and Paris, and currently resides in Chicago with her family.
