Throughout his career, Johan has provided pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with significant cost savings and performance improvement through operational synergies and leadership development.
Johan has led global corporate initiatives ranging from re-engineering functions and interfaces to full restructuring and the outsourcing of business activities. Johan has had large (9-digit) budget and P&L responsibilities and has operated successfully in start-up and turn-around environments.
Johan has worked in academic pharmacological research, for contract research organizations as well as for the sponsor pharmaceutical industry, mainly in global roles supporting both European and US (IDE, IND, NDA, BLA, 503(K) and PMA) registration submissions.
Although Johan's background is in Healthcare and Life Sciences, his expertise travels across industries, particularly his business development, business operations, general management, leadership, innovation and behavioral executive coaching skills. Johan has an extraordinary ability to work in line management and in matrix management with people from various backgrounds and cultures. He has extensive experience in developing and leading teams and is an experienced leader, having held global positions of increasing responsibility.
Carrying a pragmatic and flexible global worldview in all his activities, Johan is an organizational, leadership and team builder with the right sense of urgency, business and bio-pharmaceutical ethics. His proven skills in dealing with complex national and international work environments have enabled him to build and re-structure numerous units in the pharmaceutical industry, for example at Sanofi-Aventis and Pfizer.
A graduate of the University of Leiden, the Netherlands (B.Sc. in Anesthesiology), Johan is certified in General Management by the INSEAD-CEDEP business school of Fontainebleau, France and by the Institute for Social Sciences, Utrecht, the Netherlands. He is also certified in Executive Coaching (M.C.C) by the Behavioral Coaching Institute in New York, NY.
