Organizations thrive when: (a) employees thrive; and (b) their daily efforts are aligned with what the organization most needs.

Jathan Janove describes himself as a "recovering lawyer." For 25 years, he litigated workplace disputes. He began as a plaintiffs' attorney, suing employers. Later, and depending on your point of view, he saw the light... or was drawn to the dark side - he became a management-side attorney. In reality, he was like a "coroner" doing "autopsies" of "terminal employment relationships." Jathan now works with employers to prevent such disasters and develop and maintain long-term productive, accountable and engaged workplace relationships. He gives presentations on the many "lessons of the autopsy."

Presentations include:

  • "Leadership & Employee Engagement"

Draw out the best of your employees' potential by: (a) Creating a why-first, purpose-centered framework for workplace interactions; (d) Adopting an us-centered, listening and learning approach to performance management; and (c) Replacing "Command & Control" with collaborative leadership.

  • "Jerks at Work"

Learn the common yet preventable causes of harassment, bullying and other "jerkish" behavior and an approach you can take to prevention that goes beyond legal compliance to creating environments that promote trust and engagement.

  • "5 Tools To Resolve Conflict Constructively"

Learn five practical, proven techniques for effectively handling conflict: (a) Centered Self-control; (b) Verbal Aikido; (c) Listening with your E.A.R./The Monk's Technique; (d) The Triple Two; and (e) The MIDAS Touch Apology.

  • "Make the Performance Review Work For Employer, Not Lawyer"

Drawing on best practices research, this program shares what employers have done to make performance reviews good for employees - and bad for lawyers, including (a) Training managers to give effective two-way feedback; (b) Structuring performance reviews to make them user-friendly and focused on the behavior that really matters; and (c) Developing a system-wide approach that promotes consistency, integrity and accountability.

  •  "Employee Selection Without the Stupid Switch"

Learn what typically goes wrong in the employee selection process - the "Stupid Switch" - and what you can do to disconnect it, including: (a) Creating a profile of the key actions and behaviors that differentiate success from failure; (b) Conducting interviews that separate candidates good at doing jobs from those good at getting jobs; (c) Due diligence steps that are legally safe and dramatically improve the odds of making a good selection.

  • "The 7-Point Workplace Investigations Checklist"

Discover the critical do's and don'ts that distinguish successful investigations from ones often ending in disaster, including: (a) Setting the stage properly for a successful investigation; (b) Conducting effective interviews using the Funnel Technique; and (c) Making, communicating and documenting findings that are persuasive and will withstand scrutiny.
