Michael Cannon is an internationally renowned sales and marketing effectiveness expert, dynamic speaker and best-selling author, most recently coauthoring with Jay Conrad Levinson (Guerrilla Marketing), et al., Marketing Strategies That Really Work! Promote Your Way to Millions. He is also coauthor with Brian Tracy, Mark Victor Hansen, et al., of the best-seller, Create the Business Breakthrough You Want, which has been endorsed by Harvey Mackay, Dr. Stephen Covey, and Ken Blanchard. Michael began his professional business career and learned the meaning of “cold call” selling working for Siemens Tel-Plus Communications in the wicked cold New England weather.
Working for RBN Training and Consulting, he created MutualTemps in 1986, the first student-based temporary help agency for the financial services industry. He then joined Metromedia Paging, an SBC subsidiary, where he created a major accounts sales team that increased unit sales by 50% and grew the account base by 38%. Promoted to the Chicago office, Michael held PL responsibilities for $13 million in recurring revenue. He led direct and indirect distribution sales teams of 44 people in two states that won numerous performance awards.
Michael entered the videoconferencing market with GPT Video Systems (U.S. operations were acquired by Executone I.S.) and transferred to California in 1992 as Western Regional Manager. He created and managed a direct sales force as well as a VAR channel and added numerous performance awards to his accomplishments. Michael joined Logilent Learning Systems in 1996 as Co-Founder and VP of Sales, helping grow sales 1,300% in 12 months and attracting tier-one VCs such as Novus Ventures and Sigma Partners. Between 1998 and 2002, Michael gained valuable sales experience in the enterprise software market, making significant contributions
to NovaSoft Systems (document management), to SilverStream Software (web infrastructure), and to Noosh (procurement).
Michael was trained in Solution Selling, Strategic Selling, SPIN Selling, Conceptual Selling, and Value-based Selling. He completed Decker Communication’s presentation training program and has spoken at numerous industry trade shows. Michael taught The Art of Professional Selling at LaSalle College, was featured in a Forum Corporation sales training video, appeared on the front cover of Self-Employed America magazine, and has made guest appearances on radio programs such as the American Marketing Association’s Marketing Matters LIVE! and Entrepreneur Magazine Sales and Marketing Radio Show.
