Your team will learn how they can create a fun place to work in by using humour in a safe and appropriate manner. Putting humour to work reduces stress levels, increases creativity, improves moral, strengthens teamwork, facilitates open communication, builds trust between management & employees and reduces employee absenteeism & turnover rates.
Most of us have become far too serious. We have people that are better trained than ever, but they don't seem to have nearly as much fun as they once did. With economic uncertainty, business reorganizations, corporate buy outs, and world competition, staff are having to work harder, change or fall behind. Its no wonder stress related illnesses are filling our doctor's offices. Most illness is stress related. Employees who have fun at work are a serious benefit to the bottom line. Volunteers who can laugh and play will stay with your organization! Humour can help your organization run smoother, cut medical costs, increase sales and production levels, and even polish the company's public image.
PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM
To learn how humour can be utilized in the work place / volunteer environment to reduce stress, enhance creativity, increase productivity, and keep the team on track.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
- Define one's own sense of humour.
- Differentiate between appropriate & inappropriate humour.
- Identify the humorous elements present in everyday life.
- Experience humour and laughter as a stress reducer.
- Learn the physiological benefits of laughter
Find Humor In Your Life: Instead of complaining about life's frustrations, try to laugh about them. If something is so frustrating or depressing it's ridiculous, realize that you could 'look back on it and laugh.' Think of how it will sound as a story you could tell to your friends, and then see if you can laugh about it now. With this attitude, you may also find yourself being more lighthearted and silly, giving yourself and those around you more to laugh about. Approach life in a more mirthful way and you'll find you're less stressed about negative events, and you'll achieve the health benefits of laughter.
