Janie Johnson
I was born in New York City to two addicted parents with four brothers and sisters. After going through many foster homes, I left to live with relatives in Atlanta, Georgia. I felt safe and worried about my family everyday, my parents and siblings wanted to stay in New York. I saw winning as the game I had to play to win. I wanted to graduate from high school and college so that I could go back to New York and help my family. This day came 10 years later to place my entire family in rehabilitation centers and moved them all to Atlanta, Georgia. I worked 25 years as a Youth Counselor/Recruiter for the University of Texas@Dallas. I recruited over 500 students every year.
I worked with the Asian Chamber Scholarship Fundraiser, Black Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Future Leaders Now to help children become Winners. Some of my accomplishments are Bachelors of Arts in Education and Masters of Arts in Child and Family Services. I am Certified Addiction Counselor, Child and Family Therapist, Master Instructor, Grief Counselor and Anger Management Counselor.
My speaking engagements have been with America Business and Professional Women, Women of Vision, Dallas Community College, Collin College, Women International, Future Leaders Now, Christian Women Job Corps, Youth Job Corps, Sacramneto Families United, Sacramento Speakers Group, Elk Grove Chamber, Roseville Chamber and Keynote Speaker twice for Texas Foster Parents Association.
My goal in life is to teach and mentor about Winning.
