Marcus Parker
Marcus Parker was born in Port Arthur, TX in 1974. From growing up in an area known for high unemployment rates and drug abuse, to discovering his biological father at age 17, Marcus has displayed a remarkable ability to use the negatives in his life to propel him to achieve.
Parker graduated from Lincoln High School in Port Arthur in 1993, and immediately joined the United States Air Force. While enlisted, his drive to succeed landed him top acknowledgements for saving the government over $100,000 dollars in maintenance costs. After receiving an associate’s degree in electronics from the Air Force Community College, Parker took his training to corporate America and became a highly paid semiconductor equipment technician. Investing all his earnings in the stock market and following up with real estate ventures, by age 26, Parker had obtained financial independence. Unfortunately, the tragedy of September 11th, 2001 caused Marcus to lose the finances he had worked so hard to obtain in the stock market and he was again faced with financial issues that left him going back to the drawing board to start all over. However, failure was not an option for Marcus. After facing foreclosures, repossessions, and bankruptcy, the relentless Parker recovered by using the many obstacles he conquered as material to write the inspirational book, “The Product.”
"The Product" is the story of Parker's life. It is packed with values he learned throughout his life as he struggled to remain positive during adversity. Although his book became a local bestseller and many schools found that it was beneficial for their students, he found that the youth had a hard time receiving the message that he was trying to convey. Parker then turned his efforts to the internet and founded www.WeekendBooksTV.com , focusing on using music to motivate youth to achieve and creating an opportunity for other independent artists to display their talents. The idea worked, as schools are now using Parker’s musical workshop to motivate their students with his positive energy that serves as a living example of how negatives in your life can be used as fuel to propel to bigger and better triumphs. After all he has been through, Parker now uses his platform as one of today’s premier rapper/writer/poets to motivate youth with his favorite tenet “Stay Driven with the Talent you were Given”.
