
Anees Shahid
Anees Shahid, Founder of the Advocates & Mentors Association, (AMA Inc.), an organization whose sole mission and purpose is in “Keeping Youth and Families Together”. He is the author of the book entitled “Shake Hands & Come Out Settled” – an introduction to the availability and use of conflict resolution.
He is one of the nation's leading advocates in support of education, pertinent legislation and the prevention of unfair incarceration. Anees is a Certified, Professional Mediator and has been in the area of conflict resolution for over 20 years. He mediates in the Juvenile Court, Family and Divorce Court, Civil, Magistrate Court and corporately helps companies reduce workplace disputes. He also, on a federal level, mediates EEOC Complaints and works on occasion with the Resolve Program in Washington, D.C. Anees is a Certified Professional Law Enforcement Chaplain and is a member of the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), De-Escalation instructor for National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI). Anees can be heard every Friday, at 11:00 AM EST in Atlanta on AM 1480 WYZE, where his listening audience can call in and present or discuss ways to settle their disputes.
Anees advocates the use of mediation and the avoidance of litigation techniques, nationally and internationally, to schools, law enforcement agencies, and faith-based institutions. He has helped develop programs for courts and schools involving diversion and prevention from unnecessary imprisonment and reduction of recidivism.
He speaks to and collaborates with schools, community leaders, counselors, sheriff’s departments and prisons on programs focused on positive and motivating ways to manage their lives and keep our communities safe.
