Retired, award winning kitchen designer, Bob 'Idea Man' Hooey, CKD-Emeritus, was one of less than 75 Canadian kitchen designers to earn this prestigious (CKD) professional certification by the National Kitchen and Bath Association. Bob served as an NKBA teaching professional and authored "How to Remodel Your Kitchen & Stay Married!" to help his remodeling clients prior to moving into speaking and training full time nearly two decades ago.
He has been honored for his leadership contributions by CAPS, NSA, Toastmasters International, the United Nations Association, and received the CANADA 125 award for his ongoing leadership contributions to the community.
Bob is the co-founder and Past President of the CAPS Vancouver (BC) Chapter as well as an honorary member of the CAPS-Sask. (founding) and CAPS-Atlantic chapters. He is a charter member and leader of CAPS National and the Global Speakers Federation. He is a past President of CAPS Edmonton Chapter. He is a past member of NSA-Arizona and served on the NSA Chapter Leadership Council as their international rep. He is a founding member of VSAI - Virtual Speakers Association International and is assisting PSA Spain as they grow.
At the CAPS National conference, in December 2000, Bob was given a special CAPS National President's Award "for his energetic contribution to the advancement of CAPS & his living example of the power of one."
In 2000, Bob was elected to the CAPS National Board, serving two years as a National Director. He was honored for his national service in 2002. He was the 2012 President of the CAPS Edmonton chapter. He served 5 years as a trustee for the CAPS Foundation and is headed up the Foundation evening at the 2013 Global Speakers Summit in Vancouver.
In August of 1998, Toastmasters International recognized Bob "for his professionalism and outstanding achievements in public speaking" in Palm Desert, CA. Twice Distinguished Toastmaster, Bob Hooey became the 48th person in their history to earn accreditation and this professional level designation as an Accredited Speaker by Toastmasters International. He served as District 21 Governor (1997-98) for BC's 4500 plus Toastmasters and served as D42's Executive Leadership Coach for 5 years. In 2018-2019 he served as one of 14 Regional Advisors for Toastmasters International assisting with training and guiding of District leaders around the globe.
