China and America appear to be on a collision course between the high stakes clash of competing ideologies and economic interests. Ross H. Munro, former director of the Asia Program at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, provides insight and direction for companies considering expanding their activities in Asia.

Mr. Munro combines his extensive knowledge of Asia with his academic training in political science to produce political risk and country reports that provide practical and usable information to corporate decision-makers.

His book co-authored with Richard Bernstein, The Coming Crisis with China, caused an international sensation. Since the book's release, Munro and Bernstein have already had a lead article in Foreign Affairs Magazine and have had up to 10 interviews and talk show appearances a day.

He joined FPRI in September, 1990, after a distinguished career as a journalist and foreign correspondent. Since then, Mr. Munro has been conducting research and writing on U.S. Asia policy with particular emphasis on China and India. He has special interest in economic and military issues. Recently his articles have appeared in Foreign Affairs, The National Interest, and Orbis.

Mr. Munro's background in Asia has both breadth and depth. Over a 15-year period in Asia, he lived and worked in Beijing, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and New Delhi. Munro is a frequent visitor to Asia and knows both business and political leaders there. He frequently does consulting work for leading U.S. and foreign companies and for the U.S. Government on China, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and India.
