Against many odds, Alisha Thomas Morgan is the first African American elected to the Georgia House of Representatives from Cobb County. At 26, she remains the youngest serving member of the entire Georgia General Assembly. Originally from Miami, Florida, Alisha is a graduate of Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both Sociology and Drama. She has dedicated her life to empowering and inspiring others to commit to the important work that must be done in our communities. She has been featured in many local, state and national publications including Women Looking Ahead and Atlanta Tribune. She has been called one of Georgia's Brightest 40 under 40 by Georgia Trend Magazine, one of Ebony Magazine's Nation's 30 Leaders Under 30, AOL Black Voices has called her 'One of American's Young Civil Rights Heroes'-, and her story is featured in the book How to Get Stupid White Men Out of Office (Soft Skull Press, 2004).
