Mother Love
The multi-talented and "even more fabulous" Mother Love is on a mission to inform, educate and enlighten people everywhere on the importance of better managed diabetes. Novo Nordisk - US presents her Diabetes Awareness Bus & Truck Tour at many health fairs, expos, universities, hospitals, clinics, schools and other large venues. Mother Love has lost over 100 pounds and has improved her diabetes management through hard choices and healthy lifestyle changes. She is the 2010 Spokesperson for Glucerna Nutitional Products, (a div. of Abbott Labs). Mother Love has been tapped by Aetna Insurance Company with their faith based initiative for 2009 "In The Spirit of Health" where she has presented her message at over 100 churches in 100 days. She is an Aetna Ambassador for 2010. She will be the face of the National Kidney Foundation's "People Like Us" campaign for 2010, She has done over 200 radio interviews to promote Diabetes Awareness affecting more than 9 million people with The American Diabetes Association's I DECIDE to FIGHT Diabetes Campaign as well as a Research Ambassador. She is a veteran of television sitcoms, talk radio and music shows, film actress, advice columnist, motivational speaker and humorist.
An accomplished author, with all her books making a best seller's list, Mother Love has written her third book "Half the MOTHER Twice the LOVE, published by Atria Books (a div. of Simon & Schuster) 2006, penned two advice-based books Forgive or Forget: Never Underestimate the Power of Forgiveness(HarperCollins 1999) and Listen Up Girlfriends (St. Martin's Press 1995).
Mother Love was honored with the 2010 USC Anneburg School of Journalism and Communications History Makers Award, 2009 C.H.A.P. award for Community Service. She was the recipient of the American Diabetes Association's Volunteer of the Year for 2008, 2007 Living History Makers Award in Arts & Entertainment, the 2006 Women of Courage Award for her work with Diabetes presented by Los Angeles affiliate ABC7. She received the 2005 Eli Lily for Life Award for Excellence in Journalism and the 2005 Urban Leadership International Urban Angel Award for her excellence in community service and philanthropy leadership. She has received many other awards, citations and commendations from organizations, local and state officials nationwide. August 13th is Mother Love day in her hometown, Cleveland, OH. Mother Love and her family have made Southern California their home since 1989.
