Dr. James (Jim) Ice is an organizational sociologist, strategic leadership advisor , public speaker and educator. He is the owner of NorthStar Learning a strategy development and talent management consulting company, located in Pittsburgh, PA (www.jimice.org).


For over 35 years he has built his reputation as a trusted advisor to thousands of leaders throughout the globe. He has worked with organizations across industry sectors, designing and implementing strategic plans, major change initiatives and global leadership development programs. A partial list of recognizable clients corporate include: Ford, Harley-Davidson, Textron, Hillenbrand, Fidelity, Westinghouse, Alcoa, Heinz, Mine Safety Appliances (MSA), Vitro, and Smith Micro; as well as dozens of small to mid-size organizations and non-profits.


Dr. Ice advises and trains leaders on issues of strategy, business growth, workforce assessment and alignment, process design/improvement, organizational integration, employee engagement, and change leadership - all with a focus on building leadership capability. Jim earned a master’s degree in organizational strategy and a doctorate in leadership. He is a Board Certified Executive Coach (CCE), and holds several additional professional certifications, including: Certified Executive Coach (CEC), Certified Strengths Coach (Gallup) and Human Capital Strategist (CHI). As a Professor of Practice, he serves on the Organizational Leadership faculty for Columbia Southern University in their PhD programs, and York University (NE) in their Master’s of Organizational Leadership program. He served as Dean of the College of Professional Studies at Carlow University and has served as Organizational Behavior faculty for: Purdue, Penn State, Carlow and Point Park universities.
