I help lawyers build trust with clients through clear, practical communication without burning out.

Mindy Yocum is an Ohio-based attorney, speaker, and social entrepreneur who helps lawyers build trust with clients without burning out. With more than a decade of legal practice and over 30 years of experience in customer service, training, bartending, and call center leadership, Mindy brings a rare, practical perspective to client communication and professional sustainability in law.

Her work is shaped by experiencing the legal system firsthand during a moment of crisis in her own family. That experience made clear how confusing and isolating the system can feel, even with legal representation, and it continues to inform her focus on clarity, trust, and communication in legal practice.

She is the founder of Yocum Law, a general practice firm committed to accessible, client-centered representation, and the creator of JusticeMobile, a nonprofit mobile legal clinic that brings legal help directly into underserved communities across Ohio. Through JusticeMobile, Mindy has worked with thousands of individuals who often feel overwhelmed, unheard, or shut out of the legal system.

Mindy also teaches and builds justice-focused initiatives through her work with The Ohio State University, where she collaborates with law students, computer science students, and community partners to design technology-driven solutions that address real access-to-justice barriers. In addition, she is the founder of The Bar We Build, a national community and platform dedicated to helping lawyers develop sustainable, client-centered practices through mentorship, education, and practical tools.

Before becoming an attorney, Mindy spent years working in high-volume customer service environments, where she learned how to de-escalate tension, guide difficult conversations, and explain complex information clearly and calmly. She credits that experience, more than law school, with teaching her how to build trust in moments that matter.

As a speaker, Mindy reframes client care as a learnable, repeatable skill rather than a personality trait. Her talks are practical, grounded, and immediately applicable. She regularly speaks to bar associations, CLE programs, law schools, and legal organizations nationwide.

Law School Did Not Teach This: Client Conversations, Professional Identity, and Sustainable Practice

Description:
Law students graduate knowing doctrine and procedure, but many feel unprepared for the human side of lawyering. Client conversations, expectation-setting, and emotional boundaries are rarely taught, yet they shape confidence, competence, and long-term career satisfaction.

This program helps law students and early-career attorneys understand client care as a professional skill they can learn and practice. It focuses on how communication choices...
